Rooted began in the fall of 2011 when two juniors from Kearney High School approached Jason and asked him sit down with them to discuss matters of faith, relationships, and high school life in general.  It was clear in that first meeting that there was much more to discuss and more people that wanted to be involved in the discussion.

 

They met again the following week, and seven students from KHS and KCHS attended that first meeting.  The content of that meeting, as is true of all meetings that have followed, was driven by what was on the minds of the students.

 

In those first few meetings, the group was named, ground rules were established, a consistent meeting time was chosen, and the group’s mission statement was written in the form of prayer.

 

Over the past 12 years, as the group has grown and changed, great effort has been made to keep the integrity of the original concept in tact while trying to address the needs of a larger, very active group of youth, whose world changes daily.  In all that we do, we attempt to keep love as our guiding principle.
